Next week BroadLogic Network Technologies will show the first digital cable set-top-box to put out a complete analog channel line-up reconstructed from a digital cable service. The analogue channels are converted from the cable operator’s digital tier by a prototype residential gateway using the chipmaker’s TeraPIX enabled chip. This will allow cable operators to do away with analogue delivery, increasing capacity available to digital services, while at the same time continuing to serve existing analogue TV sets.
Broadlogic recently received $17 million in new funding from a group led by Comcast Interactive Capital, which includes Advance/Newhouse, Cisco, and Intel among other strategic and financial investors.
