Tele2AB has sold its fixed line interests in Hungary to the Hungarian Telephone and Cable Corp. (HTCC) for around SEK40 million (€4.36 million). HTCC is backed by Denmark’s TDC and rapidly emerging as a serious challenger to the incumbent telco Magyar Telekom. Earlier this year it acquired Invitel, another alternative provider, for €470 million. HTCC’s subsidiary PanTel is expected to shortly enter the Hungarian IPTV sector, which is currently dominated by Magyar Telekom’s T-Home TV.
