Inuk Networks is to extend its Freewire TV service to the UK residential market following an agreement with Cable & Wireless. The deal, worth £70 million (€95.64m) over five years, will allow C&W to offer the IPTV over broadband service as a white label offering to its wholesale DSL customers. Inuk’s triple play service has previously only been available to UK students over the JANET network. 40 universities are currently signed up representing over 100,000 rooms.
Inuk CEO Marcus Liassides said the arrangement would allow the company to extend its choice of services “Cable & Wireless has the unique capability to offer an all-national wholesale multicast platform, so for us, the deal was a no-brainer.” The service is expected to go live in March 2008.
