Irdeto announced today that that it has acquired IDway SAS, a software company providing open software solutions for digital TV consumer devices based in Paris, France. No financial details of the transaction were disclosed.
This collaboration builds on an existing relationship between Irdeto and IDway which began in 2006. By combining IDway’s middleware solutions with Irdeto’s conditional access (CA) solutions, Irdeto will be able to provide a wider range of integrated solutions to operators and set top box (STB) manufacturers.
The IDway-J middleware solution is fully compliant to DVB standards and includes a customizable user interface with Western and Asian languages support and optional PVR extensions. In line with the adoption of the DVB-MHP (Multimedia Home Platform) standard, IDway has also successfully developed IDway-MHP, which is already licensed to several consumer electronics manufacturers.
“With the acquisition of IDway, Irdeto is now able to offer the combination of middleware and conditional access (CA), stated Graham Kill, CEO of Irdeto, in a prepared statement. “This expanded relationship with IDway will help it grow to the next level and for Irdeto to offer middleware solutions to segments of the market that complement those from Irdeto’s long-established middleware partners, such as OpenTV.”
