The new brand identity of German cable operator Unitymedia is causing problems for its owners. RTL is not pleased by the fact it uses the same colours, blue, yellow and red, in small stripes alongside the name. According to the broadcaster it resembles too much the RTL logo. Before any court action is taken RTL’s Anke Schaeferkordt and Unitymedia CEO Parm Sandhu will discuss the situation.
Also, German cable operator EWT is not pleased with the strapline Unitymedia is using: “Ein Kabel alles moeglich” (One cable makes everything possible) resembles to much their own: “Ein Kabel. Alles drin” (One cable. Everything in it). The controversy surrounding the Unitymedia branding follows the decision of a Berlin court to stop Premiere from using the Sky name for its DTH platform Premiere Sky.
