The Austrian public radio station Ö3 from ORF has started transmitting live traffic webcam pictures of motorways in and around the capital Vienna to mobile TV handsets. The broadcasts are part of the DVB-H pilot project with 1,000 users. For the moment, the pictures are only broadcast during the morning rush hour.
With the pictures the radio station will also broadcast the accompanying traffic information. According to Ö3 director Georg Spatt DVB-H gives the station a new distribution platform.
