In a surprising development that has not been announced officially by either of the two parties, UPC Telemach is understood to have strengthened its position in the Slovenian cable industry by buying a 66.7% stake in Ljubljanski Kabel from Regent Finance for what is believed to be over €10 million. The deal was reported by one local newspaper late last week, while another local source says that it was completed the previous week. UPC Telemach will now account for around 40% of the Slovenian cable market, claiming in the region of 150,000 cable TV, 40,000 broadband Internet and 2,500 VoIP subscribers.
