The Czech High Court (NSS) has overturned a ruling by the Prague Court that withdrew digital TV licences awarded to six companies in April 2006. The original decision was made following protests from several parties, headed by the national commercial stations TV Nova and Prima TV, that had lost out in a contest for the licences. The NSS’s decision probably marks the beginning of the end of the saga, through the six companies in question – TV Barrandov, Febio TV, TV Pohoda, Z1, Ocko and RTA – will still have to wait until existing broadcast law is amended before finding out if their licences have been restored.
