The Bulgarian MSO Eurocom Cable is reported to have launched a digital TV service in Plovdiv, the country’s second city. It has also signed an agreement with Diema Vision, a company backed by Sweden’s Modern Times Group (MTG), allowing for the distribution of its channels. Eurocom Cable is owned by FiberNet, Hungary’s third largest cable operator, which is itself backed by Warburg Pincus. It introduced a digital TV package in Sofia in May. Separately, a three-year ban on the sale of a majority stake in the incumbent Bulgarian telco BTC has officially ended, paving the way for its acquisition by AIG Global Investment Group.
