Arcor launches IPTV in Kassel

The German telecom operator Arcor has launched its IPTV service in northern Hesse in the city of Kassel. During a pilot project, 500 homes will test the new service over their DSL broadband connection. The offer includes streaming channels, as well as on-demand content and an EPG.

Arcor plans further IPTV launches in 12 other cities in the second half of the year. In 2008 the total footprint should extend to 150 cities.

Pricing is €12.95 for the basic bouquet and movie and sports premium options will be available, as will ethnic bouquets at prices starting at €5.95 a month. The complete offer consists of 50 “free” channels and 70 premium channels.
