Unity Media has reported a strong first quarter performance with an increase in revenues of over 30% to €181 million as the so-called RGUs (Revenue Generating Units) climbed by 9% to 5.608 million. EBITDA increased by 17.6% to €81 million.
The Arena pay-TV platform reported subscriber growth of just 5.9%. Of the 1.096m subscribers to the platform, 743,500 were wholesale cable customers, and 352,700 were satellite subscribers. Arena’s loss of €58 million was in line with expectations.
47% of the Unity Media network, representing four million homes, has now been upgraded to triple play services. The company expects this to have been increased to 66% or 5.7 million homes by the end of 2007.
