The German Premiere Sky platform will limit the number of channels in its bouquet to 20, according to spokesperson Michael Jachan. So far about 50 channels have applied for a place on the proposed pay-TV platform due to launch in September.
Premiere Sky will start during the IFA Consumer Electronics Show in Berlin and will bring together a number of existing and new thematic channels on satellite. The platform is headed by Wolfram Winter and will use the technical infrastructure of the Astra entavio service. Reception will be possible with any receiver equipped with Nagra encryption, but the company plans to issue labels to identify receivers suitable for reception of the service.
