The Polish alternative telco Netia has announced that it now has 100,000 broadband Internet subscribers, or 70% more than at the beginning of this year. Some 64,000 receive services through the company’s own network and the remainder on one belonging to the incumbent telco TPSA. Netia uses both ADSL and WiMax technology, with 95% of the company’s clients – as well as 75% of TPSA’s – being within the coverage area of its broadband Internet service. Netia lists Third Avenue Management (18.41%) and Novator Telecom (25.24%) among its shareholders and began this year with just under 400,000 lines. Of these, almost 160,000 were used by business customers.
