Vivodi Telecom has said its ‘cable TV by Vivodi’ service is now up and running. Using a MEDIAstream platform supplied by MCOM, a leading Greek company in television technology over IP networks, it offers both live TV and VOD services via an ADSL2+ network. Vivodi also claims the network to be the largest privately owned one for telecom services in Greece.
The cable TV package provides unlimited urban and long distance telephony, high-speed broadband Internet access at speeds of up to 20Mbps and digital television with MPEG-4 image encoding and Dolby surround sound.
The announcement follows one by ON Telecom on the launch of its triple play over unbundled ADSL 2+ network (see Broadband TV News, March 12).
At present, Vivodi Telecom’s service offers 10 international thematic TV channels including Euronews, Discovery (Science, Civilization, Travel and Living), France24 and Blue Hustler, as well as hundreds of recent or classic movies in collaboration with Warner Bros. International Television on its VOD service. It also provides movies supplied by the local company Prooptiki.
