Ferenc Kery was born on July 6th, 1957 in Hodmezovasarhely. He graduated as a mechanical engineer at the Technical University of Budapest (1980) and undertook postgraduate studies in economics at Szolnok University College (1996).
He started his career in Hodmezovasarhely as a computer system organiser-programmer at the HODGEP Factory in 1980 and later at Szintezis Kisszovetkezet (1988-1990) and Spektrum GM (1990-1995). In 1995 he was appointed as CEO of the local cable television service provider company HODKABEL Kft in Hodmezovasarhely. In 1996 he was elected as VP and in 1999 as president of National Association of Cable Television Network Operators.
Since 1999, he has been re-elected three times as president of the cable association, renamed as the Hungarian Cable Communications Association in 2000. It represents about 210 cable operator members, together accounting for about 2,100,000 cable subscribers, as of the beginning of 2010.
