Discovery’s OTT service DPlay will launch in the Benelux early next year.
The SVOD service wil offer video streaming of more than 2,000 episodes from Discovery Channel, TLC and ID. The launch follows similar introductions earlier this year in Denmark, Italy, Sweden, following last year’s start in Norway.
“With DPlay we serve our viewers with the very best entertainment and non-fiction programming wherever and whenever they want,” said Alco de Jong, VP Country Manager of Discovery Networks Benelux.
“The launch of DPlay is in line with our strategy, which we continue to invest heavily in our content and brands, increasing our market share and we use new platforms to create even more range.”
The broadcaster did not give an exact starting date, but DPlay should launch as soon as January. Details of pricing will also be issued nearer the launch date. People signing up for the service will receive the first 30 days free of charge.
