The Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) has concluded that the operators of DTT multiplexes, including Emitel, and their associated broadcast network operators may have violated the anti-trust law.
Wirtualne Media reports that Marek Niechcial, the president of the UOKiK, submitted information about the issue to Anna Sobiecka, an MP for the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party, when the latter discussed a blackout of the public broadcaster TVP’s three main channels that took place last year between December 17-19.
PiS has been critical of the fact that EmiTel is owned by a US company and believes it should not have been privatised.
The UOKiK began an investigation into Emitel’s activities this April.
