Four people have been arrested in India in connection with the leaking of an episode of Game of Thrones.
Episode 4 of the popular HBO series was released by the pirates ahead of its global transmission on August 4.
There have been subsequent leaks outside of the enquiry.
“We investigated the case and have arrested four individuals for unauthorised publication of the fourth episode from season seven,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Akbar Pathan told AFP.
Three of those arrested worked for the Mumbai-based Prime Focus Technology, while the fourth is a former employee of the company.
Prime Focus is responsible for the storing and processing of the episodes for an app. They held the necessary credentials to obtain the content without question.
Earlier this month, hackers broke directly into HBO’s data systems and obtained scripts from Game of Thrones, which has rapidly become the most pirated show in history.
