Telekom Romania has accused the country’s Ministry of Communications (MCSI) of blocking the RO-Net project.
According to ZF, RO-Net is one of the largest communication infrastructure projects in Romania and aims to connect almost 700 isolated rural communities to a fibre-optic network.
Funding has been blocked for the past eight months due to bureaucratic reasons, leading Miroslav Majoros, the CEO of Telekom Romania, to say that he now wishes the company had never won the tender for the project, which is causing “significant damage to us”.
RO-Net is being paid for out of European funds and to date Telekom Romania has received only €15 million of the €30-40 million for the work it has undertaken.
