Later this month the fifth annual New Europe Market (NEM) will be held in the Croatian city of Dubrovnik.
Initially viewed as a low-key competitor to Discop, now known as NATPE Budapest, it quickly developed its own character and is today arguably one of the must-attend events in the CEE TV industry calendar.
Spread out over three days in an idyllic location, NEM offers a good mix of conference sessions and screenings, along with ample opportunities to network.
Broadband TV News will again be present at NEM this year, moderating a conference session on Big Data entitled Let me choose for you. Boasting a speaker line-up including Sebastian Wernicke (One Logic), Tony Gunnarsson (Ovum TV), Nick Zhao (Huawei Technologies), Richard John Breskovic (Hrvatski Telekom), and Meelis Lukka (Viaplay Baltic), it will examine what is arguably one of the most interesting and relevant topics in the industry today.
Other conference sessions at NEM will include ones on FTA channels, featuring speakers from such leading regional broadcasters as Antenna International, TV Markiza and Czech Television; Esports, including the CEO of Ginx TV; regulation, mostly focused on the former Yugoslav region, though interestingly also including the VP of the Lithuanian telco Init; and content, entitled The Power of TV Channels.
Living up to its title, the latter will feature speakers from a number of leading international companies, including Viasat, AMCNI, Viacom International Media Networks, BBC Worldwide, Sony and Discovery Networks.
Screenings will meanwhile be offered by – amongst others – FremantleMedia, Lionsgate and BBC Worldwide.
Aside from participating at NEM, Broadband TV News will again offer full coverage of the event, which opens on Monday, June 12 (evening) and gets under way in earnest on Tuesday, June 13, with the last session being in the afternoon on Thursday, June 15.
