The broadband market in Moscow is now saturated, with both its value and subscriber numbers falling.
According to data produced by Data Info and published by TelecomDaily, it was worth R104 billion (€1.69 billion) in the first three quarters of 2016, or 6% less than the corresponding period a year earlier.
At the same time, the number of broadband subscribers fell by 15 to 3.7 million. MGTS was the market leader with a 37% share, followed by Rostelecom and VimpelCom with 22% and 14% respectively.
While MGTS saw its share increase, VimpelCom’s fell. Meanwhile, figures published by TMT Consulting for 2016 also placed MGTS in first place though with a lower share (32%).
Next up were Rostelecom (20%) and Akado Telekom (16%), with VimpelCom (14%) only in fourth place.
