Vodafone Deutschland has signed a long-term contract with ProSiebenSat.1 for the distribution of the German media company’s free-TV, pay-TV, HD and video-on-demand (VOD) services on its cable network and IPTV platform.
From the end of February 2017, Vodafone customers will gain direct access to maxdome through its new home gateway GigaTV. The VOD service operated by ProSiebenSat.1 will then be available on all major cable networks.
Vodafone’s cable and IPTV households will also be able to receive free-to-air channels Sat.1 Gold and ProSieben Maxx in HD quality for the first time.
Pay-TV channels Sat.1 emotions HD and kabel eins Classics HD will be added to Vodafone’s HD Premium Plus package. Pay-TV channel ProSieben Fun HD will join the HD Premium package. Kabel eins Doku has been part of Vodaone’s line-up since the end of 2016.
The agreement also enables Vodafone to offer programmes from ProSiebenSat.1 on-demand on GigaTV after their TV broadcast as well as the mobile distribution of the company’s 10 free-TV and pay-TV channels.
Through GigaTV’s instant restart function, the currently running TV programme can be set back and watched from the beginning. The network-PVR enables the recording of several TV shows in parallel.
