Facebook has begun to test the streaming of video to TVs via Apple’s AirPlay and Google Chromecast.
Marketing Land reported the tests, quoting a Facebook spokesman who confirmed it was experimenting with the two formats.

Facebook’s support for AirPlay on its iPad app goes back to 2011, but it’s only now that it is also being included on the iPhone. The Chromecast elements first began to appear in May. It’s only possible to send one video at a time to the screen, as opposed to building a playlist, as is the case with YouTube.
The social media site has increasingly become involved in TV-like video. In recent weeks it’s broadcast the Wayne Rooney testimonial between Manchester United and Everton as well as the Women’s La Liga from Spain.
It’s Facebook Live user generated content service has become an equal to rival Twitter’s Periscope.
