Bulgaria’s Council for Electronic Media (CEM) is in no hurry to appoint a new director for the public broadcaster BNT.
Capital reports that the second mandate for Viara Ankova, who currently holds the post, expired on August 1 but the regulator has only just begun to discuss the rules for the selection of her successor.
In early June, the country’s parliament amended the Law and Radio and Television so that general directors of public media can remain in their positions until successors are elected.
Ankova will not be allowed to hold the position for a third term.
