French cable to mobile provider Numericable-SFR saw revenues fall by 5% in 2014 as the newly merged entity looks to reduce expenses.
The business was created from the merger of cable company Numericable and Vivendi’s former mobile division SFR.
Sales came in at €11.4 billion, but when SFR is stripped out of the numbers, sales within the old Numericable were on the rise.
A 4.5% increase in cable customers took the installed base to 1,547,000, though there was a marginal decline in ARPU over 2013 to €41.
Chief Financial Officer Thierry Lemaitre said there was no need to dampen the early enthusiasm on the possibility of synergies, which would be announced in greater detail later in the quarter.
Numericable-SFR is the second largest mobile operator behind Orange and France’s leading provider of fibre services. As at December 31, 2014 6.4 million households received fibre from the company (100 Mbps or greater), compared to 5.6 million 12 months previous.
