Turkey’s Star Media Group has undergone a change in ownership, with the entrepreneur Ethem Sancak securing a 50% stake in the company.
According to Zaman, the remaining shares in Star Media Group, whose interests include the TV network Kanal 24, are owned by the hotelier Fettah Tamnice.
It adds that Sancak also owns the Aksam and Günes dailies, as well as the Skyturk 360 TV channel.
All were formerly owned by Çukurova Holding before being seized and then subsequently sold on by Turley’s Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMF).
Sancak is understood to have close links to the Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
