German music channel iM1 suspends broadcasts

August 22, 2014 23.14 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

iM1 ScreenshotGerman commercial music TV channel iM1 has discontinued its transmissions.

The channel’s broadcast slots via cable, satellite and IPTV have been showing a caption carrying the text “Kurzer Soundcheck – gleich geht’s weiter” (translated: “Brief sound-check – we’ll be back soon”) for several days. The same applies to the live-streams on internet TV platform Zattoo and its own website.

UK-based TV broadcaster 360 Music Television took over iM1 in February 2014. The new owner wanted to give the free-to-air channel a younger appeal and add more interactive elements. The plan was also to launch more music channels in Germany in the next months for different target groups.

Enquiries both at the management in Germany and the shareholders in the UK remained without reply. iM1’s Facebook site is also not updated any longer.
