Romania’s ANCOM received bids from only two parties in its auction for five DTT multiplex licences.
In a statement, the regulator says it will review the offers, from RCS&RDS and SNR (otherwise known as Radiocom) by May 15 and decide whether or not to admit the candidates to future stages of the auction.
The evaluation will be undertaken by May 22. Each bidder is required to indicate how many of the five available DVB-T2 multiplexes (four UHF and one VHF) they are interested in.
If the demand exceeds the number of available multiplexes primary rounds will be repeated until this is no longer the case.
The starting price for each multiplex is €300,000 and all licences, valid for 10 years, will come into effect from June 17, 2015, the date by which Romania’s transition to digital broadcasting must be completed.
RCS&RDS is one of the largest electronic communications companies in Romania and its leading cable and DTH operator.
SNR (Radiocom) is the national transmission company.
