Magyar Telekom remains the leading provider of fixed line broadband internet services in Hungary, claiming a market share of 35.6% in September, according to data published by the regulator NMHH.
UPC was in second place with 21.8%, followed by Digi (13.%), Invitel (9.7%), Tarr (2.6%), PR-Telekom (2.2%), ViDaNet (1.9%), GTS-Hungary (0.8%), Parisat (0.5%) and others (11.2%).
Cable is still the most popular method of receiving fixed broadband services, with 928,366 subscriptions as of September, based on data obtained from market leaders covering 82.8% of cable modem subscriptions.
Of these, 376,226 were via DOCSIS 3.0. The number of FTTx broadband subscriptions stood at 346,720, based on providers covering 99% of all FTTx subscriptions, while the xDSL subscriber total was 772,046, based on market leaders covering almost 98% of all xDSL subscriptions.
The total number of fixed broadband internet subscriptions in Hungary in September was estimated to be 2,259,000.
