Virgin Media is planning to cut up to 600 mid-to-senior level jobs, equivalent to 4% of its total workforce in the UK.
The move is being made to eliminate the duplication of roles in Liberty Global’s business in Europe.
In an emailed statement published by Bloomberg, Virgin Media CEO Tom Mockridge said: “Like organizations across the public and private sector, Virgin Media is making sure it has the structure it needs to meet the needs of its customers.
“These proposals are designed to take advantage of the opportunities that come with being part of the world’s largest cable operator and create an organization that’s fit for growth.”
The job cuts, following on from a 90-day consultation period, will not include engineers and call centre staff. Virgin Media says they will not affect the quality of its services.
