Hungary’s MinDig TV Extra is developing into one of the most successful pay-DTT platforms in Central and Eastern Europe.
At the same time, the take-up of digital TV in general continues to grow impressively.
Data published by the regulator NMHH shows that MinDig TV Extra ended November 2012 with 76,843 subscribers and a 2.4% share of the country’s subscription TV market.
In the wireless broadband sector, it claimed a much higher 7.8% stake in a market dominated by Digi (36.4%), T-Home (29.2%) and UPC Direct (23.9%).
As of November 2012, there were a total of 1,901,678 cable and IPTV subscriptions on wired networks in Hungary, of which 819,874 were digital.
The number of DTH and MMDS subscriptions meanwhile amounted 913,168, with the total digital TV subscriptions standing at 1,809,885.
Significantly, the number of digital cable and IPTV subscriptions grew from 801,000 to 820,000 in November 2012.
