Cyfrowy Polsat plans to add several more HD channels, both proprietary and produced by other parties, to its offer before the end of the year.
Furthermore, according to its president Dominik Libicki, quoted by Wirtualne Media, it will launch a new thematic channel, produced jointly with a partner.
Libicki was hoping to name the partner but was unable to do so as an agreement with them has not yet been signed.
Cyfrowy Polsat is expected to allocate half the transponder acquired from Orange a few months ago, along with the transponder it uses for VOD services, for the additional channels.
The latter has been switched from MPEG-2 to MPEG-4, thereby allowing it to double the number of channels it carries.
Cyfrowy Polsat will now increase the number of VOD channels to 20, with the remaining 10 allocated to the new thematic services.
