The Czech public broadcaster CT plans to focus more on HD and will launch a second channel in the format ahead of the London Olympic Games this summer.
According to E15, it has already opened a tender worth CZK32 million (€1.3 million) excluding VAT for the satellite distribution of the channel, with bids invited up to April 19.
The contract will be valid from May 1 until the end of 2014, though other distribution methods – cable, IPTV and DTT – will also be considered.
CT launched its first HD channel, which is distributed by satellite, in the summer of 2009 and its main competitors, TV Nova and Prima TV, also have proprietary HD services.
