The French CanalSat platform is dropping three channels, E! Entertainment, 13eme Rue HD and Syfy HD, from March 1 after carriage negotiations failed to renew the contract in time.
According to the March issue of the CanalSat subscriber magazine, the three channels will no longer be part of the platform’s satellite DTH and IPTV offer. The move will also affect Swiss subscribers to the satellite-delivered service.
“While 13eme RUE and Syfy continue to be enjoyed by Canalsat viewers, Universal Networks International’s current agreement with Canalsat has expired for the channels’ high-definition feeds, as well as for E! Entertainment Television. As a result, they will be unavailable on the platform from March 1, 2012. UNI and Canalsat are continuing on-going discussions to reach a new carriage agreement as soon as possible,” NBC Universal told Broadband TV News.
The three NBC Universal channels are available on a number of platforms in France and there is no word if they will continue on these distribution channels.
They are carried on Numericable, Telecom Monaco, UPC Cablecom and Naxoo (in Switzerland), Belgacom TV and Be TV (on the VOO networks) in Belgium.
