Central European Media Enterprises (CME) has announced plans to start monetising its on demand service Voyo.
Starting from early next year, it will charge a monthly fee in five of its markets – the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Romania and Croatia – with Slovenia, the sixth, already having a subscription model in place.
According to Robert Berza, head of CME’s internet division, subscribers will be offered unlimited viewing for a month with little or no advertising for around the same price as a trip to the cinema.
Voyo had over 1.2 million real users in September across all six of its markets and has so far found local content to be the most viewed.
