The Romanian-owned DTH platform Digi TV has stopped the distribution of HBO channels in Croatia. As in the case of the Czech Republic earlier this week, it cited as its reasons the impossibility of reaching an agreement with HBO in order to maintain existing retail prices.
Contacted by Broadband TV News, HBO Central Europe provided the same statement as was the case in the Czech Republic. In it, the company said: “currently negotiations between HBO Central Europe and RCS are at an impasse, we would expect them to resume in due course.”
In a related development, RCS/RDS told the Romanian publication ZF that the dispute between the company and HBO would have no bearing on the latter’s distribution in Romania.
Indeed, the two parties have extended their agreement for the next two years.
