The Czech Republic’s leading IPTV service O2 TV will raise the number of channels it offers in its basic package to 20 on October 15.
According to Digizone, the new channels in the package will be the Christian service Noah, Prague station Metropol TV, BBC, CNN and Slovakia’s Markiza, Joj, Joj Plus and STV1.
O2 TV is operated by the incumbent telco Telefónica O2 and has recently run into difficulties, its subscriber total of 138,000 in the first quarter being little changed on that 12 months earlier.
Earlier this month, Telefónica O2 received licences from the Council for Radio and TV Broadcasting (RRTV) to distribute seven new channels, two of which (Metropol TV and Joj Plus) have now been added to O2 TV’s basic package.
Aside from O2 TV, Telefónica O2 operates one of the Czech Republic’s four DTT multiplexes.
