Sky Deutschland will launch its regular 3D programming on October 3, with coverage of the third day of the Ryder Cup live in HD-3D. “This is just the starting signal for an entire series of exclusive sport broadcasts in 3D,” said chief officer sports Carsten Schmidt.
All Sky HD subscribers in Germany and Austria who receive Sky via satellite or Kabel BW and have a 3D ready TV set will be able to experience the major golf event in 3D at no additional cost.
“The Ryder Cup is a sporting event with worldwide significance and lends itself perfectly to the launch of our new 3D event channel. The most important golf event of the year represents the starting signal for an entire series of exclusive sport broadcasts in 3D,” said Schmidt. The pictures will also be available on Sky Digital in the UK.
Sky said it is the first German TV broadcaster to present top sport 3D programming in True HD.
