Belgacom and Telenet, the two main Belgian digital TV operators, have agreed to give the regional Flemish TV channels a more prominent position on their Electronic Programme Guides (EPG).
The regional broadcasters will now be placed among the first ten channels, following the main national broadcasters, both public (VRT) and private (SBS Belgium and VMMa).
The move follows a request from the Flemish Minister of Media. There are a large number of regional broadcasters in the Flemish provinces, most of them dependent on advertising income. They include ATV Antwerp, AVS, Focus-WTV, TV Oost, Ring TV, ROB TV, RTV (Antwerp), TV Limburg and WTV.
