WATCH VIDEO – IFA 2010 – BERLIN. The French public broadcaster France Televisions has announced it will launch connected TV services using the HbbTV standard with LG as its first partner. The broadcaster is showing the first applications at the stand of LG Electronics.
Connected TV is one of the major topics at this year’s consumer electronics show, with demonstrations at many of the stands. German broadcasters here in Berlin are quite active launching services using the new HbbTV standard.
France Televisions has also been working on a number of features that it is showing, with a launch foreseen for early 2011.

Connected TV Forecasts NEW REPORT. The number of TV sets connected to the Internet will reach 551 million by 2016 for the 40 countries covered in this report from Digital TV Research, up from 124 million at end-2010. The report states that this translates to 20% of global TV sets by 2016, up from only 6% at end-2010. Published in November 2011, this 83-page PDF report is the most geographically comprehensive to ever be published.
