The Portuguese pay-TV operator ZON is enjoying considerable success in migrating its subscribers to multiple play bundles. However, its overall subscriber total is falling.
Results published by the company show that it ended Q2 with 1,576.900 basic subscribers, or 0.9% less than a year earlier. Of these, 1,166,300 (-1.1%) received cable services. On the other hand, the number of triple play customers stood at 571,900 (+46.3%) and almost one in two cable subscribers (49%) received triple play services.
ZON also saw a reduction in its DTH subscriber total in Q2, down 0.4% year-on-year to 410,600, but its blended ARPU was up by 6.2% to €35.6.
HD channels are already an important differentiator for ZON, the 15 it currently offers being the largest number by any platform in Portugal.
The company had operating revenues of €216.2 million (+9.5%) in Q2, along with EBITDA of €76.2 million (+15.9%). Its net income rose by an impressive 41.7% to reach €13.6 million.
