Serbia’s Republic Telecommunications Agency (RATEL) will today (June 7) rule on a dispute between Telenor and Telekom Serbia.
According to Novosti, it concerns the price that Telenor will be required to pay the incumbent telco for access to its fixed telephony infrastructure.
The news was given by Jasna Matic, the minister of telecommunications and information society, speaking at a conference on electronic communications in the SEE region. She added that the RTA’s decision would be final and based on the current electronic communications law.
A new law is likely to be adopted in two to three weeks, though there would be a transition period of several months before it comes fully into effect.
Telenor has paid €1 million for a fixed line telephony licence and has a deadline of a year to start providing fixed line telephony and broadband ADSL services in Serbia.
