Russia has begun a DTT trial in Moscow that includes a HD channel in its offer.
According to Satkurier, it is being undertaken FTA on UHF and providing nine TV channels, one of which is Sport 2 HD, along with three radio stations. Its official start on February 12 will coincide with the beginning of the Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
Separately, Cableman reports the launch of a DTT service in St Petersburg, offering eight channels in SD and in accordance with the federal plan for the transition to digital broadcasting.
Everyone in the city will be able to receive DTT signals from 2011 following the installation of digital transmission equipment at the St Petersburg tower.
