The Sanoma Group is to launch a localised premium sports channel into the Finnish market in partnership with Modern Times Group.
Nelonen Sport Pro will draw on content from both MTG’s Viasat and Sanoma’s Nelonen Media that operates Finland’s fourth national TV network Nelonen.
Content will include Finnish SM Liiga, NHL and KHL international ice hockey league; football from UEFA Champions League, English FA Cup and the French Ligue 1; Moto GP, ATP Master Series tennis; as well as Euroleague basketball and coverage of major international golf tournaments.
The new channel will be exclusive to Viasat’s Finnish pay-TV platform and cable TV offer. It will compete with the local version of Eurosport and the premium Canal+ Sport.
