The MTG-backed Russian commercial broadcaster CTC Media is planning to expand its operations in the country.
Reports in Kommersant and Lenta say the company is engaged in talks to buy five of the six TV stations currently owned by Volga media company, itself part of Sawa.
The five stations in question – 2×2, Russian Project, TNT-Kirov, Service TV and either Local TV or Channel 5 – are likely to be sold for in the region of $12 million (€8.05 million).
CTC Media currently operates the national station CTC, regional service DTV and thematic channel Domashny (‘Home’).
