The Romanian incumbent telco Romtelecom has upped the ante in a price war between the country’s leading providers of triple play services.
ZF reports that the OTE-backed company has introduced a new package offering TV (its Dolce DTH service), internet access at 4Mbps and fixed line telephony for only €9 a month for the first year, rising to €17.85 (including VAT) for the second.
Romtelecom has also waived modem and satellite installation fees. The move brings Romtelecom’s triple play offer broadly into line with that of RCS/RDS, which is the country’s leading cable company in terms of subscriber numbers and also operates its most successful DTH platform Digi TV.
Romtelecom’s Dolce is the second largest player on the DTH market, with over 750,000 subscribers.
