Virgin Media has announced a three-year expansion plan for its retail stores, 18 months after the cablenet reduced its high street operations.
The company plans new stores in Birmingham, Plymouth, Bromley, Leeds, Leicester and two in London that will take the number of its own-branded stores to 27. The expansion will see its retail presence triple within a year.
“By increasing our high street presence, we’ll be able to drive further growth whilst communicating the benefits of Virgin Media’s products in a way that makes sense for consumers,” said Virgin CEO Neil Berkett.
Virgin closed its dedicated outlets in December 2007, but continued to enjoy a presence in stores including Carphone Warehouse, Phones 4U, Argos, Comet, Currys, Currys.digital, Dixons, PC World, Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury’s.
This new plan includes includes so-called ‘retail lite’ stores in Sheffield, Nottingham and Nuneaton.
