ANGA CABLE 2009 – COLOGNE. Germany’s WISI Communications will bring a number of new and updated modules for its headend and distribution systems to the show. In addition to RF transmitters amplifiers and other traditional coax equipment, WISI will also show a number of FTTH modules, including a new triple play fibre Customer Premises Equipment (CPE), better know in the industry as a ‘box’.
The STREAMLINE system sees a new addition this year in the shape of the DVB IP Gateway OS XX. A modular platform for DVB-MPEG video streaming, it receives up to six transport streams from different sources (DVB-S/S2, DVB-T, DVB–C, ASI, IP, AV, SDI).
The integrated manageable switch aggregates these DVB-IP transport streams to a GigE output stream, ready for contribution or distribution in carrier or hospitality networks.
A new series of edge devices series will transfer broadcast TV from an IPTV into other types of networks.
At ANGA Cable, WISI will launch the first version aimed at IPTV to cable transfer, and the OE 01 cost efficient Edge QAM device will soon be joined by Edge PAL and Edge FM devices.
WISI is also host to a number of technology provided by its partners. RGB Networks remultiplexer/transrater is able to multiplex up to 768 channels at the same time. With its partner ADVA Optical Networking, it will demonstrate a backbone solution that efficiently transports content to video edge devices.
Aurora Networks’ LcWDM transmitters, operating in the O-band, will also be on offer.
The subsidiary Bridacom will meanwhile a Cedarpoint Communications VoIP softswitch. As well as a NGCP (Next Generation Call Processor) architecture for small and large sized networks based on SIP, the system enables the provision of Next Generation telephony services for residential and business customers, such as video telephony, instant messaging (IM), presence and location based services and voice/IM conferencing.
WISI’s compact headends will now transmodulate two digital satellite multiplexes onto one digital cable multiplex (QAM) or to analogue cable signals.
