Welsh broadcaster S4C has launched a new interactive television facility, powered by Ensequence and Strategy & Technology (S&T), and available to both DTT and satellite audiences through the Red and Text buttons.
In a belated announcement – the system went live on March 4 – S&T said Ensequence had chosen S&T’s Presenter technology for what is the first UK multiplatform deployment for Ensequence. The New York-based company has previously worked with QVC UK and Sky Sports.
Reversioning software is required to move between the OpenTV middleware used by Sky Digital and MHEG-5, the Freeview middleware that has become a forte for S&T.
S4C’s interactive service includes national and regional news, weather reports, TV listings and sports scores in both English and Welsh.
