The German RTL Group will launch DTT services in the cities of Leipzig and Halle using MPEG-4 and Conax encryption this autumn.
The media authority of the state of Saxony-Anhalt, the Medienanstalt Sachsen-Anhalt (MSA, has given the go-ahead for the broadcasts. (See also Broadband TV News passim)
RTL will launch its main commercial channels RTL, RTL II, Vox and Super RTL in the cities. Reception will be free-to-view, but in addition people will be able to buy a subscription to two RTL pay channels, RTL Crime and RTL Passion.
